Questions about deep cleaning.
Why isn’t cleaning the filter myself enough?
The filter stops coarse dust, but mould, dust mites and allergens get through and build up on the coil and blower wheel — exactly where the air you breathe passes. They’re only removed by strip-down and washing with dedicated chemicals.
How often should deep cleaning be done?
At least once a year, ideally in spring before the season. Near the sea (Lungomare, the Riviera) and with heavy use we recommend twice a year — salt and humidity accelerate the build-up.
How long does it take, and will it make a mess?
About 45–60 minutes per unit. The area is protected with dedicated covers that collect all the dirty water — nothing is left behind.
Are the chemicals safe?
We use professional products made specifically for air conditioners — effective against mould and bacteria, safe for the home once the unit is rinsed and dried. No bleach and no household detergents, which damage the coil.
Does energy consumption really drop after cleaning?
Yes — a clean coil exchanges heat better, so the unit reaches the temperature faster and works less. On heavily soiled units the difference on the bill is noticeable within a month.
The AC smells bad — will cleaning fix it?
In the vast majority of cases, yes: the smell comes from mould built up on the blower wheel and condensate tray. Deep cleaning removes it at the source — not with fragrances that mask it for a week.
